Just another photographer

I’ve been interested in photography since college.  My first serious camera was a Pentax K-1000  I got it in the late 70s.  Obviously, that was back in the days of 35mm film.  Everything was manual.  My next camera was a Pentax ME Super in the early 80s.  This camera had an aperture priority mode in addition to being fully manual.  Next came an Olympus IS-3 DLX in the mid 80s.  Still film, but with more features.

About this time, my wife and I learned to SCUBA dive.  Naturally, I got into underwater photography with a Nikonos V camera and accessories.  I preferred shooting slides underwater because of better color saturation.  My first digital underwater camera was a Sea & Sea DX-860G.

I got my first digital SLR, the Nikon D70 early in 2005, which I’m still using.  I’ve also added a Sea & Sea housing and strobes for taking my Nikon diving.  My most recent addition is the Sea & Sea 1200HD.  In addition to being a 12 megapixel camera, it also does HD video at 720p.

I tend to not do a lot of post processing of the photos I take.  I pretty much limit my adjustments to slight exposure or color corrections.  Personally, I’m not comfortable with taking things out of the photo or moving things from point A to point B, which is easy to do with Photoshop.

In addition to photography and diving, I’m an avid golfer.  My handicap goes back and forth between 5 and 7.

My wife and I also love Formula 1 racing.  We went to every United States Grand Prix in Indianapolis.  We’ve also been to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, and the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
